  • Success Skills

Sustained inquiry

Students engage in a rigorous, extended process of asking questions, finding resources, and applying information.

Authenticity

The project features real-world context, tasks and tools, quality standards, or impact – or speaks to students’ personal concerns, interests, and issues in their lives

Student voice and Choice

The project is framed by a meaningful problem to solve or a question to answer, at the appropriate level of challenge.

Reflection

Students and teachers reflect on learning, the effectiveness of their inquiry and project activities, the quality of student work, obstacles and how to overcome them.

Critique & revision

Students give, receive, and use feedback to improve their process and products.

Public product

Students display their projects in some sort of public presentation manner.

Challenging problem or question

The problem or questions should challenge the students but not intimidate. Choose or create a real world example that students can relate to.

What is
Project-Based Learning

Project-Based Learning is a teaching methodology that combines real-world scenarios with 21st Century Skills to authentically prepare our young people for the world of work, college preparation, and “adulting” in general.

Thanks!

Have something to share?

  • Send your project and supporting documents to your Manager or PBL leader in your state

  • After reviewing your work, they will forward to the National PBL team at pbl.jag@gmail.com

  • A national team member will review, provide feedback and when the project is deemed Gold Standard, will be uploaded to the JAG Library

Download excel file to keep track of the PBLS you have done. Check back monthly as new projects are always being added.

The projects in this library were written, reviewed, and revised by Specialists across the JAG network.

Project-Based Learning is a developmental process, and as we collectively learn and perfect our practice, our quality of projects will improve.  We encourage you to make the projects your own, and as you do, in the comment section on each project page, leave notes identifying the modifications and changes you made to fit the needs of your classroom.  Feel free to email us at pbl.jag@gmail.com if you have attachments, revisions, or modifications you would like to have uploaded to the library.
